35 kilometres south of Mont-de-Marsan, on the Hagetmau route, the earthenware and table ware museum welcomes you in Samadet, a charming Tursan village. In a large, white building, this local museum is devoted to the history and production secrets of earthenware, the historical heritage of Landes. Established in 1730 by the Marquis and Priest of Roquépine, Samadet earthenware rapidly became a royal factory with many associated privileges.

In the first room in the earthenware museum, imagine how the factory operated with a depiction of it on a large panel. Then admire some 300 pieces of Samadet earthenware, renowned for the quality of their local clay and their delicate décor of butterflies, roses and even wood pigeons. The highlight of the visit is a precious vinegar cruet with a dancing horse design. In the last room, devoted to table ware, period tables are set in an elegant and understated atmosphere.
